How to hide valuables at hotels?

Ok so im going on a vacation and i want to bring my ipod touch to listen to music because it is a long trip (2 trips of 4 hours) im going on adventerland and there are some water rides there and i don't want to risk bringing it EVEN if i put it in a zip lock bag and it would over heat because its hot. Yea i have no clue what hotel my Dad booked. But keep in mind he is CHEAP! he wont pick the highest class hotel but not the worst one. The ones he usually picks has bugs all over. GROSS!!!!! Bottom line. Where can i hid my ipod to make sure no one but me can find it so the maids don't steal it? ps i cant really buy a safe cuz im broke.
